Investigation to date
has resulted in the identification of 593 (31 percent) of the 1,895
persons known to be involved. Of
these 593 identified persons, 282 (48 percent) were determined to be
users of narcotics and 120 (20 percent) were found to have been previously
convicted in either federal or state court for bank robbery, bank burglary,
or bank larceny.

Injuries, Deaths,
and Hostages Taken
Acts of violence were
committed during 77 (5 percent) of the 1,566 robberies, burglaries,
and larcenies which occurred during this three-month period. These acts included 25 instances involving
the discharge of firearms, 46 instances involving assaults, and eight
instances of hostage situations. (One
or more acts of violence may occur during an incident.) These
acts of violence resulted in 23 injuries, three deaths, and nine persons
being taken hostage.
