FBI Director Mueller Visits Paris

The Director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Robert S. Mueller III, visited Paris this week as part of his ongoing trip through Europe.

During his visit, Mr. Mueller met with Claude Gueant, President Sarkozy’s Chief of Staff; Minister of Justice Rachida Dati; the Minister of the Interior, Michelle Alliot-Marie; and with the head of the National Police, Frederic Pechenard, and other law enforcement and intelligence community counterparts. The purpose of the visit was to meet with these newly appointed members of President Sarkozy’s cabinet and discuss ways to continue and to strengthen aggressive cooperative efforts on counterterrorism matters as well as cybercrime and transnational organized crime matters. Mr. Mueller also met with his counterparts in law enforcement and intelligence agencies to discuss specific investigations and issues of mutual concern.

Noting that this was his third visit to Paris, Mr. Mueller praised the strong efforts of the French government in the global fight against terrorism and other serious crimes
