On March 3, U.S. Congressman Artur Davis sponsored a crime prevention forum in Birmingham, Alabama, entitled "Save our Streets." The event discussed ways to reduce violent crime in the city, including strategies that are working across the nation.
The panel of speakers included FBI Deputy Assistant Director Michael Mines, Criminal Investigative Division, Washington, D.C.; Fred Grebauer, New York City Mayor's office; Lt. Col. James Whalen, Cincinnati Police Department; and Rachel Laser of Third Way, a non-profit Washington think tank. Birmingham Special Agent in Charge Carmen Adams was also on hand to answer questions.
