Forensic Infrared Spectrometry for Trace Analysis

Course dates to be announced

This course is an introduction to the principles and methods of trace analysis by infrared spectroscopy. The course objectives are to provide (1) an understanding of the theory of infrared spectroscopy, (2) an overview to help choose an appropriate technique for a specific problem, and (3) hands-on experience with both bench and microscope infrared instrumentation. Lecturers are experts from forensic science laboratories, industry, and academia. Students who complete this course will be familiar with the application of infrared spectroscopy for the analysis of paints, fibers, plastics, and drugs.
